What is the Mutual Aid Fund?
The collective’s Mutual Aid Fund is a mechanism to facilitate the diversion/return of resources from members of the collective who have privileged positionalities. It is designed as a way of hedging against these members’ own sense of control and urge of knowing. This is also a way of manifesting our intention and position in contrast to many NGOs that continue to let marginalized communities down by largely promoting self-centered performative change. The distributed sums are not sufficient in addressing structural root causes of marginalization. Nevertheless, we see them as acts of care that can provide some critically needed ease and support for already strained community members or organizations.
Note: Currently, we do not have funds to devote to the mutual aid. Though, we would be happy to hear from funders or other groups willing to collaborate on such projects.

Apply or Recommend Someone
By filling in this form, you can apply for resources or recommend another person or group to be resourced. We are happy to pass on any recommendations to the Advisory Board, which consists of 3 people from BIPOC communities with insight and experience working with social movements. They have the full mandate to make decisions regarding this programme. They invite you to reach out if you want to suggest where this funding could be diverted.
Note: As of yet, this is not a fund that gives quick relief. Our current structures allow us to assess your application or recommendation within several weeks.
